Question
Amisha is 50% more efficient than Khushi. Amisha started
a work, worked for 'w' days and then Khushi replaced Amisha. khushi completed the remaining work in (w + 12) days. The ratio of the work done by Amisha and khushi is 3:4. In how many days can Amisha and Khushi together can complete the whole work?Solution
ATQ, Let us assume that khushi alone can complete the work in 'k' days khushi one day work is (1/k) Amisha one day work is = (150/100) × (1/k) = (3/2k) w(3/2k) + (w + 12) (1/k) = 1.......(1) (3w/2k) : (w + 12)/k = 3:4...........(2) From (1) and (2) we will get w = 12, and k = 42 so Amisha can complete the work in 28 days and khushi in 42 days. (1/28) + (1/42) = (5/84) or (84/5) or 16(4/5)
