Question
The ratio of the speed of a car to a bicycle is 4:1 and the bicycle covers 45 km less than the car in the same time interval. If the time taken by the car to cover that distance is 3 hours, then find the speed of the bicycle.
Solution
ATQ, Distance = speed * time Time = distance/speed Let the distance travelled by the car = d km So, d / (4x) = (d β 45) / (1x) d = 4d β 180 3d = 180 d = 60 km Now, 60 / (4x) = 3 60 = 12x x = 5 The speed of the bicycle = 1 * 5 = 5 km/hr
