Question
Rs. 4000 when invested at 6% p.a. for (x + 4) years
gives a simple interest of Rs. 4800. Find the amount received when the same sum is invested at 5% p.a. simple interest for 2.5x years.Solution
According to the question,
(4000 × 6 × (x + 4)) ÷ 100 = 4800
Or, 240(x + 4) = 4800
Or, x + 4 = 20
Or, x = 16
Therefore, 2.5x = 40 years
Required amount received = {(4000 × 5 × 40) ÷ 100} + 4000 = (8000) + 4000 = Rs. 12,000
