The ratio of pens to pencils in a shop is 8:5. If 24 pens
are sold and 21 pencils are added, the number of pens and pencils becomes equal. Find the original number of pencils in the shop.Solution
ATQ,
Let the number of pens and pencils be '8n' and '5n', respectively.
So, 8n - 24 = 5n + 21
Or, 'n' = 15
Therefore, number of pencils = 15 × 5 = 75
