Question
The number of small to large packets in a store is in the
ratio 3:4. If 18 more packets of each type are added, the ratio changes to 9:11. Find the original number of large packets.Solution
ATQ,
Let the original number of small and large packets be ‘3x’ and ‘4x’, respectively.
ATQ;
(3x + 18) / (4x + 18) = (9/11)
Or, 11 × (3x + 18) = 9 × (4x + 18)
Or, 33x + 198 = 36x + 162
Or, 3x = 36
Or, x = 12
So, the number of large packets originally = 4 × 12 = 48
