Question
X, Y, and Z distribute a certain sum among themselves. The
average share is Rs. 4860. X receives 12.5% more than Y, and 25% less than Z. What is the share of Y?Solution
ATQ,
Let share of Y = Rs. 80x
Share of X = 80x + (12.5% of 80x) = Rs. 90x
Share of Z = (4/3) × 90x = Rs. 120x
Total amount = 4860 × 3 = Rs. 14580
So, 80x + 90x + 120x = 14580
⇒ 290x = 14580
⇒ x = 50
So, share of Y = 80x = 80 × 50 = Rs. 4000
