      Question

      Four numbers A, B, C and D are such that the ratio of

      A:B is 4:7 and ratio of B:C is 3:5. If the sum of A and D is 100 and sum of C and D is 146, then find the value of B.
      A 14 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
      B 42 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
      C 46 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
      D 36 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
      E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

      Ratio of A : B : C = 12 : 21 : 35 Let A, B and C be 12x, 21x and 35x respectively. According to question, => A + D = 100 ----- (i) => C + D = 146 ----- (ii) Solving (i) and (ii) we get, => C – A = 46 => 35x – 12x = 46 => x = 2 Therefore, B = 21x = 42
