‘L’, ‘M’ and ‘N’ rented a shared office space. The landlord charges based on the number of desks used. If ‘L’, ‘M’ and ‘N’ used 3 desks, 4 desks and 2 desks, respectively and the total monthly rent is Rs. 18000, then find the amount paid by ‘M’ to the landlord.
Solution
Let the landlord charged Rs. ‘x’ per desk. Therefore, amount paid by ‘L’, ‘M’ and ‘N’ is Rs. 3x, Rs. 4x and Rs. 2x, respectively So, 3x + 4x + 2x = 18000 Or, 9x = 18000 So, x = 2000 Rent paid by ‘M’ = 4x = 4 × 2000 = Rs. 8000
