Question
‘P’, ‘Q’ and ‘R’ hired a generator for a party. The owner charges a fixed rate per hour. If ‘P’, ‘Q’ and ‘R’ used it for 8 hours, 10 hours and 12 hours, respectively and together paid Rs. 4500 to the owner, then find the amount paid by ‘P’ to the owner.
Solution
Let the owner charged Rs. ‘x’ per hour. Therefore, amount paid by ‘P’, ‘Q’ and ‘R’ is Rs. 8x, Rs. 10x and Rs. 12x, respectively So, 8x + 10x + 12x = 4500 Or, 30x = 4500 So, x = 150 Amount paid by ‘P’ = 8x = 8 × 150 = Rs. 1200
