Question
A bag contains certain number of coins of different
denominations. The ratio of the number of Rs. 2 coins to Rs. 5 coins is 3 : 4, respectively and the ratio of number of Rs. 5 coins to Rs. 10 coins is 4 : 5 respectively. Find the total value of the Rs. 10 coins, if the total value of the Rs. 2 coins in the bag is Rs. 48.Solution
Ratio of the number of coins of denominations Rs. 2 : Rs. 5 : Rs. 10 = 3 : 4 : 5
Let, the number of coins of Rs. 2, Rs. 5 and Rs. 10 in the bag be 3x, 4x and 5x.
Since, the total value of Rs. 2 coins in the bag is Rs. 48
So, value of Rs. 2 coins = 3x × 2 = 6x
6x = 48, x = 8
Therefore, number of Rs. 10 coins in the bag 5x = 40
So, required value of Rs. 10 coins = 5 × 8 × 10 = Rs. 400
