Question
There are 65 students in a class. Rs.78 is distributed
among them such that each boy gets 2(6/13)% of the total students and each girl gets 12/13 % of the total students. Find the ratio of total number of boys to the total number of girls in class.Solution
Let the total boys be x and the total girls be (65 - x).
Total amount which the boys get = x * 2(6/13)% of 65 = x * (32/13)% of 65 = 8x/5
Total amount which the girls get = (65 - x) * 12/13 % of 65 = 39 - 3x/5
According to the question-
=> 8x/5 + 39 - 3x/5 = 78
=> x + 39 = 78
=> x=39
Ratio of boys to the girls = 39:(65 - 39) = 39:26 = 3:2
