Question
A sum of ₹10,000 is invested in two schemes A and
B. Scheme A offers 10% per annum and scheme B offers 15% per annum. If the total interest earned after 2 years is ₹2,200, how much was invested in each scheme?
Solution
Let amount invested in A = x and in B = 10000 - x. Interest from A after 2 years = (x × 10 × 2) / 100 = 0.2x. Interest from B after 2 years = [(10000 - x) × 15 × 2] / 100 = 3,000 - 0.3x. Total interest = 0.2x + (3000 - 0.3x) = 2200. 0.2x - 0.3x = 2200 - 3000 → -0.1x = -800 → x = 8000. Amount in A = 8000, Amount in B = 2000. Answer: a) ₹8,000 in A and ₹2,000 in B.
