Question
A shopkeeper purchased 35 kg of sugar at Rs. 22 per kg.
He sold some of it at a profit of 8% and the rest at a profit of 16%. If the total profit he made was Rs. 100, find the quantity of sugar sold at 16% profit.Solution
ATQ,
Let the quantity of sugar sold at 16% profit be ‘x’ kg and the quantity of sugar sold at 8% profit be ‘35 – x’ kg.
ATQ;
22 × 0.08 × (35 – x) + 22 × 0.16 × x = 100
Or, 61.6 - 1.76x + 3.52x = 100
Or, 1.76x = 38.4
Or, x = 21.82
Therefore, the shopkeeper sold 21.82 kg of sugar at 16% profit.
