Question
A seller purchased 18 mangoes at Rs. 180 per dozen. He
sold half of them at Rs. 240 per dozen, and 6 more mangoes at Rs. 18 each. At what price should he sell the remaining mangoes to achieve a 30% profit on the total transaction?Solution
Total cost price of 18 mangoes = 180 X (18/12) = Rs. 270 So, selling price of all the mangoes should be = 270 X 1.3 = Rs. 351 Selling price of first 9 mangoes sold = 240 X (9/12) = Rs. 180 Selling price of another 6 mangoes sold = 6 X 18 = Rs. 108 Remaining mangoes to be sold = 18 - (9 + 6) = 3 So, selling price of remaining 3 mangoes = 351 - 180 - 108 = Rs. 63 So, selling price of each of the remaining mangoes = 63 ÷ 3 = Rs. 21
