    giving a discount of 17.5%. The difference between the marked price and the cost price of the item was Rs. 1500. Calculate the selling price of the item.

    Solution

    Let the cost price of the article be Rs. ‘x’. Then, selling price of the article = Rs. 1.32x Marked price of the article = 1.32x/0.825 = Rs. 1.6x According to question, 1.6x – x = 1500 0.6x = 1500, x = Rs. 2500 So, selling price of article = 1.32x = Rs. 3300
