    Let the cost price of the item be Rs. x According to the question   (x-545)= (785 - x) x 60/100 (x-545) = (785 - x) x 3/5 5x-2725 = 2355-3x 5x + 3x = 2725 + 2355 8x = 5080 x = 5080/8 x = Rs. 635
