    Total quantity of mixture = 84 liters Quantity of milk in the mixture = 3/7 x 84 = 36 liters Quantity of water in the mixture = 84-36 = 48 liters Let the quantity of water added to the mixture be x liters. 36/(48 + x) = 3/5 36 x 5 = (48 + x) x 3 180=144 + 3x 3x = 180-144 3x = 36   x = 36/3 x = 12 liters.
