Question
The ratio of incomes of A and B is 5: 7 and the ratio of
their savings is 2: 3. If A and B spend ₹35,400 and ₹48,600, respectively, then what is the difference (in ₹) between the incomes of B and A?Solution
According to the question, 5x - 2y = 35400 ----(i) 7x - 3y = 48600 ----(ii) By multiplying 3 with eq (i) and 2 with eq (ii) we get, 15x6y 106200 ----(iii) 14x6y 97200 ----(iv) By subtracting eq (iv) from eq (iii) we get x = 9000 So, incomes of A = 9000 x 5 = Rs. 45000 Income of B = 9000 × 7 = Rs. 63000 Difference = 63000- 45000 Rs. 18000
