Let the value of U and V be 5x and 3x ⇒ Given, U + V = 80 ⇒ 5x + 3x = 80 ⇒ 8x = 80 ⇒ x = 10 ⇒ U – V = 5x – 3x = 2x = 20 ∴ The value of U – V is 20.
