Question
Pipe A can fill the tank in 12 hours. Pipe A and B together can fill it in 8 hours. Pipe B and C together can fill it in 6 hours. In how many hours will A, B and C together fill the tank?
Solution
ATQ, A = 1/12 A + B = 1/8 So, B = 1/8 β 1/12 B = (3 β 2)/24 = 1/24 B + C = 1/6 So, C = 1/6 β 1/24 C = (4 β 1)/24 = 3/24 = 1/8 A + B + C = 1/12 + 1/24 + 1/8 = (2 + 1 + 3)/24 = 6/24 = 1/4 Required time = 4 hours
