Time taken to fill the tank with the leak = 8 + 2 = 10 hours Let the capacity of the tank be 40 units Efficiency of filling without leak = 40/8 = 5 units/hour Efficiency of filling with leak = (40/10) = 4 units/hour Efficiency of leak = 5 β 4 = 1 unit/hour Required time taken = (40/1) = 40 hours
