Then, Only Accounts = 80x – A Only Economics = 70x – A Total students = (Acc only) + (Eco only) + (Both pass) + (Both fail) = (80x – A) + (70x – A) + A + 20x = 170x – A But total = 100x, so 170x – A = 100x A = 70x Given A = 210, 70x = 210 x = 3 Students passed in Accounts = 80x = 80 × 3 = 240
