B Rs. 10,500 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C Rs. 11,250 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D Rs. 12,000 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    Let the monthly salary of Karan = Rs. 100x Amount spent by Karan on food and bills together = 20x + 15x = Rs. 35x Amount spent by Karan on entertainment and books together = 0.50 Γ— (100x – 35x) = Rs. 32.5x Amount given to sister = 0.50 Γ— (100x – 35x – 32.5x) = Rs. 16.25x So amount left with him = 0.50 Γ— (100x – 35x – 32.5x) = 8125 16.25x = 8125 x = 500 So the amount spent by Karan on books = 0.30 Γ— 65 Γ— 500 = Rs. 9,750
