Let the total number of votes be '100n'
Number of votes received by 'X' = 0.36 × 100n = 36n
Number of votes received by 'Y' = 100n - 36n = 64n
So, 64n - 36n = 2,160
Or, 28n = 2,160
Or, n = 77
Therefore, required number of votes = 64 × 77 = 4,928
