Let the total number of votes be 100n
Valid votes = 0.90 × 100n = 90n
Valid votes received by N = 0.48 × 90n = 43.2n
So, 43.2n = 22,032
⇒ n = 510
Therefore, total number of votes = 510 × 100 = 51,000
