Question
In a large nursery, 65% of the plants are rose plants. The
number of sunflower plants is 20% of the rose plants, and the number of tulip plants is 60% of the sunflower plants. If there are 96 tulip plants, find the total number of plants in the nursery.Solution
ATQ,
Let total number of plants in the nursery be 100x
Number of rose plants = 0.65 × 100x = 65x
Number of sunflower plants = 0.20 × 65x = 13x
Number of tulip plants = 0.60 × 13x = 7.8x
So, 7.8x = 96
x = 12.31 (approx)
Total number of plants in the nursery = 100x = 1231
