Question
During a test, Rahul managed to get 38% and missed the cutoff by 16 marks, while Sneha got 45% and scored 5 marks above the passing marks. What was the pass mark?
Solution
ATQ,
Assume maximum marks = 100x
Rahul's marks = 0.38 Γ 100x = 38x
Passing marks = 38x + 16
Snehaβs marks = 0.45 Γ 100x = 45x
Passing marks = 45x - 5
So, 38x + 16 = 45x - 5
β 7x = 21
β x = 3
Passing marks = 38x + 16 = 38 Γ 3 + 16 = 114 + 16 = 130
