    Let the monthly salary of the man be Rs. ‘x’. Money spent on rent and transportation = (20 + 22)% of x = Rs. 0.42x Remaining money = (x – 0.42x) = Rs. 0.58x Money spent on food and entertainment = (34 + 49)% of 0.58x = Rs. 0.4814x Remaining money left = 0.58x – 0.4814x = 0.0986x So, 0.0986x = 1972 x = Rs. 20000
