Question
A girl spent 12% of her monthly income on clothing. Of
the remaining, she spent on travel and food in the ratio of 7:4. If the difference of the income spent on travel and food is Rs.1224, then find her monthly income.Solution
Let her income be 100%. Remaining income = (100 - 12)% = 88% Let the money spent on travel and food be Rs. 7x and Rs. 4x respectively. Now, according to question, => 7x – 4x = 1224 => x = 408 Total money spent on travel and food together = 11x = 4488 => 88% --- 4488 => 100% ----- 5100 Therefore her income is Rs. 5100.
