Two numbers are less than a third number by 25% and 31% respectively. Find the percent by which the second number is less than the first.

Solution

Let the third number be 100. Then, first number will be = 100 – 25 = 75 And the second number will be = 100 – 31 = 69 Required % = [(75 – 69)/75]×100 = 8%
