In a school a total of 4,900 pencils were distributed among all the students in the school. The pencils were distributed in such a way that number of pencils received by each student were 25% of the total number of students in the school. Find the number of pencils each student gets.
Solution
Let the total number of students in the school be '4x'. So, the number of pencils received by each student = 0.25 × 4x = 'x' ATQ, Total number of pencils distributed = 4x × x = 4900 Or, x² = (4900 ÷ 4) = 1225 Since, number of pencils cannot be negative. So, x = 35 Therefore, the number of pencils received by each student = x = 35
