      Question

In a school a total of 4,900 pencils were distributed

among all the students in the school. The pencils were distributed in such a way that number of pencils received by each student were 25% of the total number of students in the school. Find the number of pencils each student gets.
A 28 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 30 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 35 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 40 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

Let the total number of students in the school be '4x'. So, the number of pencils received by each student = 0.25 Γ— 4x = 'x' ATQ, Total number of pencils distributed = 4x Γ— x = 4900 Or, xΒ² = (4900 Γ· 4) = 1225 Since, number of pencils cannot be negative. So, x = 35 Therefore, the number of pencils received by each student = x = 35
