In a party, the ratio between number of present male and
number of present female is 6:5 respectively. After 3 hours, 30 males join the party and 5 women leave the party. If the final ratio between male to female is 12:7, then find the total number of people initially present in the party.Solution
Let the number of male and female present in the party initially be 6x and 5x respectively.
ATQ,
(6x + 30) /(5x - 5) = (12/7)
Or, 7 X (6x + 30) = 12 X (5x - 5)
So, 42x + 210 = 60x - 60
So, 270 = 18x
So, 'x' = 15
So, required number of people = 6x + 5x = 11 X 15 = 165
