Quantity of water in a 480 litres mixture (Milk + Water) is 120 litres less than the quantity of milk in it. Find the quantity of water to be mixed so that the quantity of milk in the mixture becomes 60% of the whole mixture.
Solution
Quantity of water in the mixture = {(480 - 120)/2} = 180 litres
So, quantity of milk in the mixture = (480 - 180) = 300 litres
Total quantity of the mixture if quantity of milk in the mixture becomes 60% = 300 × (100/60) = 500
So, quantity of water needs to be mixed = (500 - 480) = 20 litres
