Question
Quantity of water in a 500 litres mixture (Milk + Water)
is 100 litres less than the quantity of milk in it. Find the quantity of water to be mixed so that the quantity of milk in the mixture becomes 50% of the whole mixture.Solution
Quantity of water in the mixture = {(500 - 100)/2} = 200 litres
So, quantity of milk in the mixture = (500 - 200) = 300 litres
Total quantity of the mixture if quantity of milk in the mixture becomes 50% = 300 × (100/50) = 600
So, quantity of water needs to be mixed = (600 - 500) = 100 litres
