Question
In a tank, milk and water are mixed in the ratio 5:4. When
36 litres of water is added, the ratio becomes 5:6. Find the total quantity of the final mixture.Solution
ATQ,
Milk : Water = 5:4 β Total = 9 parts
Let total = 9x
β Milk = 5x, Water = 4x
Add 36 litres of water:
β New water = 4x + 36
β New ratio = 5x : (4x + 36) = 5 : 6
Original mixture = 9 Γ 36 = 324 litres
Final = 324 + 36 = 360 litres
