    Question

A 309 litre mixture consists of milk, water and honey.

In the mixture, the quantity of milk is 30% more than that of honey and the quantity of water is 40% more than that of milk. Find the quantity of milk in the mixture.
A 110 litres Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 97.5 litres Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 99 litres Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 102.5 litres Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    Let the quantity of honey in the mixture = 'x' litres Then, quantity of milk in the mixture = x + x X 0.3 = '1.3x' litres Quantity of water in the mixture = 1.3x + 1.3x X 0.4 = '1.82x' litres So, x + 1.3x + 1.82x = 309 Or, x = 309 ÷ 4.12 = 75 Quantity of milk in the mixture = 75 X 1.3 = 97.5 litres
