quantity of milk to that of water in a mixture is 3:2, respectively. (x + 11.6) litres of milk and 24 litres of water is added to the mixture such that the quantity of milk in the resultant mixture is 40% more than that of water in it. Find the value of ‘x’.Solution
Initially, Quantity of milk in the mixture = 125 × (3/5) = 75 litres Quantity of water in the mixture = 125 – 75 = 50 litres According to the question, 1.40 × (50 + 24) = 75 + x + 11.6 => 103.6 = 86.6 + x => x = 17
