    Question

A truck was moving at 50 km/hr and after ‘x’ hours it

increased its speed by 15 km/hr. Then, it continued at the new speed for (x + 4) hours. If the distance it covered during this latter journey was 468 km, how much distance did it cover during the first ‘x’ hours?
A 190 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 160 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 128 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 175 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    ATQ,

    65 × (x + 4) = 468

    Or, x + 4 = 7.2

    Or, x = 3.2

    Therefore, required distance travelled = 50 × 3.2 = 160 km
