    • Question

The area of a rectangle is 405 cm2 and the ratio of its

length and breadth is 5:9 respectively. If the breadth of the rectangle is three times of the side of a square, then find the area of the square.
A 16 cm² Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 25 cm² Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 49 cm² Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 81 cm² Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

      We know that, area of the rectangle = length X breadth Let the length and the breadth of the rectangle be 5x cm and 9x cm respectively. Or, 5x X 9x = 405 Or, x2 = 9 So, 'x' = 3 So, breadth of the rectangle = 9 x 3 = 27 cm So, the side of the square = (27/3) = 9 cm So, required area = 92 = 81 cm
