Question
A solid cylinder of radius 6 cm and height 14 cm is melted and recast into cones each of radius 3 cm and height 7
cm. How many cones are formed?
Solution
Volume of cylinder = pi x 6^2 x 14 = 504pi Volume of one cone = 1/3 pi x 3^2 x 7 = 21pi Number of cones = 504pi / 21pi = 24
