Question
A circular park has a diameter of 140 metres. A fence, 12 metres high, is to be constructed all around the park along its boundary. If the cost of fencing is Rs. 2.50 per square metre, calculate the total cost of constructing the fence. (Use Ο = 22/7)
Solution
Radius of the park = (140/2) = 70 metres
Perimeter of the fence = 2 X Ο X radius = 2 X (22/7) X 70 = 440 metres
So, area to be fenced = 440 X 12 = 5,280 m 2
So, required cost = 5,280 X 2.5 = Rs. 13,200
