Question
Five identical cubes, each measuring 6 cm along an edge, are placed in a row to form a larger cuboid. What is the total surface area of the resulting cuboid?
Solution
ATQ,
Length of cuboid = 5 × 6 = 30 cm
Breadth of cuboid = 6 cm
Height of cuboid = 6 cm
Total surface area of cuboid = 2 × (lb + bh + hl)
So, required area = 2 × (30 × 6 + 6 × 6 + 6 × 30) = 2 × (180 + 36 + 180) = 792 cm²
