Question
Ratio of length to width of a rectangular field is 2:5. If the perimeter of the field is 280 metres, then find the area (in m2) of the field.
Solution
Let length and width of the rectangular field be ‘2x’ metres and ‘5x’ metres, respectively. So, 2(2x + 5x) = 280 Or, x = 20 Area of the field = 2x × 5x = 10 × (20)2 = 4000 m2
