Question
In 2021 when his income was Rs. 45,000, Vijay spent 45% of
his income and saved the rest. In 2022, if his income increased by 18% and his expenditure increased by Rs. 1,200, then by how much did his savings increase as compared to that in 2021?Solution
ATQ,
Amount spent by Vijay in 2021 = 45000 × 0.45 = Rs. 20,250
Amount saved by Vijay in 2021 = 45000 - 20250 = Rs. 24,750
Income of Vijay in 2022 = 45000 × 1.18 = Rs. 53,100
Amount spent by Vijay in 2022 = 20250 + 1200 = Rs. 21,450
So, amount saved by Vijay in 2022 = 53100 - 21450 = Rs. 31,650
Increase in savings as compared to 2021 = 31650 - 24750 = Rs. 6,900
