As HCF is 12 so let numbers be 12x 12y .It means x y must be co-prime. Now 12x 12y 96, So x y 8. Now pairs of x , y can be 1,7 , 2,6 , 3, 5 4,4 but 2,6 4,4 are not co-primes hence number of pairs is 2.
