    Question

    In the figure given below, AC = 16 cm and BF = 5 cm. If

    AE:CE = 5:3, then find the perimeter of ΔABC.
    A 52 cm Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    B 44 cm Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    C 42 cm Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    D 46 cm Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    AE = (5/8) X 16 = 10 cm

    CE = 16 - 10 = 6 cm

    Length of tangents drawn from an external point to a circle is equal.

    So, AF = AE = 10 cm

    And, CD = CE = 6 cm

    And, BD = BF = 5 cm

    Required perimeter = 10 + 6 + 6 + 5 + 5 + 10 = 42 cm
