In the given figure, ADEF is a rectangle. ∠CBE = 70°, find the value of
X.
Solution
Each interior angle of rectangle = 90°
Therefore,
∠BAC = 90 - 40 = 50°
Now, in triangle ABC,
∠BCA = 180 - (50 + X) = (130 - X)°
Now,
AD || FE and BC is transversal line. So,
∠CBE = ∠BCA [alternate interior angles]
70 = 130 - X
X = 130 - 70
X = 60°
