Question
The Ola started with its usual speed on Tuesday but when
half of the distance was covered there was breakdown in the Ola car due to which Ola travelled with 5/9 of its usual speed , find the additional time taken to cover the same distance?Solution
Distance travelled by Ola on Tuesday = (18/100) × 5400 = 972 km Speed of Ola on Tuesday = 48.6 km/hour Time taken to cover 486 km = 486/48.6 = 10 hours Speed of Ola after breakdown = 5/9 × 48.6 = 27 km/hr So, Time required = 486/27 = 18 hours Total Time taken= 10 + 18 = 28 hours Actual time without breakdown = 972/48.6 = 20 hours Additional time = 28 – 20 = 8 hours
