    ratio of number of males to females is 5: 4. II. The number of males is 25% more than the number of females.     Solution

    Let the number of males = x and number of females = y. From I, (x/y) = (5/4) Therefore, x  = 1.25y From II, x  = y  +25% of  y = 1.25y Since both the statements give the same equation, statement I and II both are not sufficient to answer the question.
