Find the number of females in an office. I. The

ratio of number of males to females is 5: 4. II. The number of males is 25% more than the number of females. Each of the questions below consists of a question and two statements numbered I and II given below it. You have to decide whether the data provided in the statements are sufficient to answer the question. Read all the statements and give answer:
A If the question can be answered with the help of both the statements but not with the help of either statement itself Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B If the question cannot be answered even with the help of both the statements. Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C If the question can be answered with the help of statement II alone. Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D If the question can be answered with the help of statement I alone. Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E If the question can be answered with the help of either statement alone. Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

Let the number of males = x and number of females = y. From I, (x/y) = (5/4) Therefore, xΒ  = 1.25y From II, xΒ  = yΒ  +25% of Β y = 1.25y Since both the statements give the same equation, statement I and II both are not sufficient to answer the question.
