Question
A boat goes 6 km an hour in still water, but takes twice time as much time in going the same distance against the current. The speed of the current (in km/hour) is :
Solution
Let the speed of the current be x kmph. According to the question, 6/(6 – x) = 2 ⇒ 12 – 2x = 6 ⇒ 2x = 12 – 6 ⇒ x = 6/2 = 3 km/hr
